  • Misty Morning

    Hi Folks,
Its a while since I have submitted in this section but would love some feedback and opinions on these two versions of the same image. Taken on my EPL2 with the dramatic art filter.
Which do you think is the 'better' image?

    Thank you for looking

Theyare both good, not a lot to choose, but I prefer the second one. It keeps that zig zag thing going a bit more.

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

      No.2 for me too -
all the field boundaries give a horizontal feel to No.1 which is slightly at odds to the 3 vertical trees in the centre of the image, while in No.2 the vertical lines of seed drilling at the bottom of the image help give balance to the overall image and especially the vertical lines of the 3 trees.

        Re: Misty Morning

I prefer the first image. I think the ploughed field in the foreground is a bit of a distraction. However, I think also it's one picture which can lose the green colour and be made mono to good effect.

I'd say No2. - just has more atmosphere somehow.

          Nice photo.

            Re: Misty Morning

I favour No 2 for the reasons given by Pete and Chris. The extra field also provides more tone and texture to the photograph. I love the mood.

No 2 - better compositional balance.

                Re: Misty Morning

                No.1 for me!

No.2 with the strong hedge through the centre of the frame splits the image. I am not sure if I need to look up or down to read the image. I would like to look up as the top third in No.1 is very interesting you start by thinking it is sky but as you look deeper its trees and hedge rows. Great shot! Also mono would work better for me. The hint of green doesn't add in my view, however works best in No.1
