  • Easter Monday birds

I could not resist getting out of bed early this morning to see what birds might visit. I was interested to see which birds are taking food away to feed their young ones. Only the robins seem to be, fortunately one of them stood still for a nano second to allow me to get a shot. Rarely, am I lucky enough to get a good picture of a robin so I was happy with this one.

Starlings are really down in numbers with us this year, so much so that we are not seeing them regularly.

There are also fewer woodpeckers around this year but thankfully they are visiting regularly. It is a very special day in the year when the first baby appears, normally in mid to late June. Nice to see this chap today.

He started to raise his plumage on his head because of another woody flying in. I guess that numbers are down a because of the harsh winter. Another bird that seems to have suffered here is blue tits, we only have one pair so far.

    Cheers

Three very nice images, I particularly like the sheen on the Starling plumage and the detail on the GSW. If I were to be critical I would say the red breast of the Robin is a little too vivid, in my experience it is a bit duller than this. However I wasn't there when you were taking the photograph so I didn't observe the original. Thanks for showing us.
