  • Any time, any place

The title of the thread explains my philosophy of photography, there are pictures to be had everywhere and in all conditions.

Here are two I have taken in the last 24 hours.

This one was taken last night as I was pouring myself my favourite glass of red. One of our trio of ceiling lights had blown, leaving two, which gave this rather nice shadow, a photo had to be taken, I am going to try some more tonight, hoping for a panel of three for a club competition. Thought I might try three bottles of wine... then I need another along similar lines, any suggestions very welcome.

This one, taken this morning, was one of those lucky shots, apart from a small amount of croping to remove a few branches on the left this is pretty much as taken. I did wait a short while for the people to line up between the trees as I knew what I wanted.

    Thank you for looking

Shirley that second picture is great and it made me chuckle. A little.
I also looks like a great card, like out of that card shop place ... ... Hallmark 'n those types.
Can I please have a larger version for my desktop?

Both these shots are great Shirley, and Ulfric has taken the words out of my mouth - that the second shot looks like a card, esp. a Xmas card.

          He he
I don't think I could take a photo after 3 bottles of wine!

Well I'll go for No.1 as I love the almost monotone image with just enough of a hint to tell us that you've been on the red wine (!!) and then the wavy lines running from the stem of the glass up into the two shadow glasses. I'm intrigued by the upright glass though - it looks like the two shadow glasses but I assume that it is the real glass - if so have I like that it complements the two angled shadows. But is this the result of 'Photoshop' type filters?
My only other comment would be to see a similar image with at least the whole of the glass's base and perhaps even the whole glass including the wine.

            Good spot and well edited.

Both shots are great, but my favourite is no. 2, somehow this one moved me.
Maybe it is the dog, I don't know, but I love the photo!

Both excellent images. You have a photographic eye, that's for sure!

                  Re: Any time, any place

Thank you everybody for your kind words.

Yes Catkins it is the result of a bit of PP magic. I used the Fractalius plugin, it can produce quite dramatic effects, it can also be used very subtly to enhance pics, this one is somewhere in the middle. I rather like the plugin and use it in different ways in quite a number of my current pics.

Ulfric, I am flattered that you would want to use it on your desktop, however it has been suggested that it is rather grey and needs lighteneing, so its really a work in progress and I am sure you understand why I would not wish to hand over a high res version of something I am still working on.

Gno, LOL, I can assure you I probably wouldn't be able to take a pic after 3 glasses. I have taken a few more, one with three wine bottles (red, white and rose) and also a glass of beer, so I have my panel of three.

                  Thanks again to everybody.

                    . . . . . .
Interestingly I had just seen the results from this plugin on a Flikr site and downloaded it a couple of days ago to try out as it seemed to be producing some useful results - even more reason to try it now!

                      Red, White or Rose?

Is it true that Alcholics Anonymous get busier at Christmas? Now I understand why - it's these photographers finding things to photograph on a bitterly cold winters day!

Keep them coming, I'm enjoying these

Of course - all I've seen so far is
                            • wine
                            • beer
                            • and possily a.n.other

So next I'm expecting to see
                            • Sherry
                            • Filfar
                            • Whisky
                            • Gin
                            • Cider
                            • etc., etc.

all in their appropriate types of glasses - I think you have the makings of quite an interesting concept here!! hic
