Sunday 17th March, photo charter at KIngsley & Froghall Station Churnet Valley Railway. The railway is located in Staffordshire between Ashbourne and Stoke on Trent.
Locomotive used BR Standard 4 75014 renumbered 75035 for the event. It recreated a 3 coach train operated by 75035 in BR days.
Very atmospheric, 'Brief Encounter' set of shots Derek.
Just as an aside: As I posted this comment, and quite incidentally, Classic FM were playing Rachmaninov's piano concerto no.2. I only realised a few minutes later. Spooky 👻
Nce set indeed.
Having once been a train spotter (before I found out what girls were for) I never understand why the loco numbers are changed for different events. Why can't they be true to the engine's original number?
I can fully understand why renaming and numbering happens and think it is a good thing. It can be for a special occasion anniversary of a line or event. As in this instance, to recreate the engine which operated on this line.
For the heritage railways it creates interest and attracts visitors.
