After Hogmanay, New Year's da7 was a bit of a damp squib.
This was 12 minutes into the New Year.
A bit odd, its daylight as we were 65South but its high summer with lots of snow.

Base Brown is an Argentinian base but unoccupied at this time.
In this weather quite melancholy.

I've cranked this one as it shows how clear the water is.
Looking into at least 5m of water

Beside the Imperial Shags, a Snowy Sheathbill.
The green stuff is copper leaching out of the rocks.

A small colony of Antarctic Terns.

We went for a slow and fast cruise through the ice.

This is about the size of a big church.
Reflections anyone?

The one Weddell Seal was not impressed.

A last shot of Hondius in the ice.
I was getting quite fond of her.

Then we turned North.
The guides insisted we have Rum, hot Chocolate and whipped cream on the foredeck.

The lady on the right was the expedition leader. She was very good at her job.
