It's quite a sight close up and the scale compared to the onlookers is impressive in the shot, but the Sphinx is truly dwarfed by the nearby great pyramids of Giza.

They didn't have blocks and tackle, but they did have high quality ropes and sturdy poles to wind the ropes. Love the Sphinx shot Ian. I'd love to see it for real myself one day. You have reminded me of a shot of my dad in the war sitting next to it. Other than that the Isle of Wight was the closest to going abroad he got! Lovely memories looking forward to seeing more images.
