A friend's band has recently released new merch and when we'd ordered some, asked if I could take some pictures. Being just post move, I hadn't really got round to getting the camera out much but had an idea of how I wanted to take this one and knew I wouldn't be able to do it with my phone. Couldn't be bothered though to set up full studio so shot as low as possible then masked and darkened the background.
This is how my partner Dave has been wandering around for the past couple of weeks - he broke his little finger when the tall cat tree he was assembling/taking apart fell over, he put out his hand and the finger got bent right back. A retired first aider, my first thought was to bind the ring and little finger together but when I took him to A&E the doctor he saw said that wouldn't be possible due to the damage done to the little finger. He said it was broken in 2 places, chipped in 2 others and the tendon was ruptured. He used an aluminium splint, held on with sticking plaster but no bandaging. He was also told that he'd be referred to the hand clinic and seen again in about a month - no instructions on bandaging, how to keep the sticking plaster clean, nothing. So I put on a light cohesive bandage and I took him back to fracture clinic this morning (called much more early than anticipated).
The doctor in the clinic wanted to know the name of the original doctor because my idea of binding the two fingers together would have been better. Also, that splint was put on so tightly that it cut off the blood supply - when they cut off the bandage and strapping, his finger was dead white, numb, and cold. He's now in a lot of pain as the blood supply returns, but now in a simple two finger bandage.
