The spider is: Running Crab Spider Tibellus oblongus, a female.

It wasn't running, just finishing a 'nice' lunch.
I presume a male would be smaller.
My knowledge of spiders is about as good as my knowledge of fungi.

They run after their prey rather than just lurking as with the other crab spiders. The males are much darker.

It’s great to see what is about in other parts of the uk. Having a camera with you slows you down and helps you ‘see’ what is there.
