Yesterday's Trackrod Rally

I took my recently purchased 12-100 lens with me and am both really pleased and slightly disappointed at the same time...

In the past I would have taken my 12-40 and Benn very happy with the results, but I expected the extra reach to be very helpful and it was, but the downside it that the lens seems to focus slightly slower than the smaller version, so while in the past a burst of a car going past would have been many keepers, I threw away 900 out of focus imaged (out of 1900 images) which was a disappointment. I did consider taking the 40-150, but that is too long at 40mm for a lot of the time...

Anyway here's a couple for your comment...

Nice set. Good to Steve Bannister still going well. This is a rally enjoy, but over the last few years it has clashed with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight members day.

Unfortunately the Malton Forest Rally has been cancelled this year as we rely on Langdale Forest as a third of the event... The Langdale peat fire is still burning (after nearly 2 months) and the damage to the forest tracks can't be repaired as it'll interfere with the emergency services accessing the area.

Most rallies up to National have a strong historic class as well as the latest greatest cars. They also tend to run first so you can always skip the newer cars and move on to another stage.

Look at the seeded entry list, there’s a few modern cars: Bowler Land Rovers, an Italian Lancia Ypsillon Rally 4 and the mini challenge cars, pretty much everything else is historic.
