Well caught. Do they trap the mongooses? I read they were introduced to predate rats that eat the sugar cane crops. But the rats are mostly nocturnal and the mongoose are day predators so mostly go for the native wildlife and bird eggs etc. The usual story with human colonisation. Have a great time there!

Yes Bill. The mongoose is now (always was) an invasive species, doing a lot of harm to the bird and other wildlife...https://allthatsinteresting.com/mongoose-in-hawaii
We have seen several in our two + weeks here. Goats are another invasive species, they come to the swimming pool to drink..
