What did you do on the post processing? You have a few dust spots that needs to be cleaned.
-
Yeah. Sorry about the dust spots. I should have done that first.
I put the image through the haze removal tool, then through the tone mapping tool (I have about 50 presets personally made by me). I choose the one that I think suits the image best and tweak it if necessary. I also added a HSL layer, boosted the saturation over the entire range of colours until it becomes too bright, then I reduced individual colours to bring it back into the more normal realms of colour.
I hope the overall effect is somewhere between natural and unnatural but definitely manipulated.

Interesting, 50 presets? As someone who has no presets I find this quite a surprise. How do you choose which one to use? For me each fIle is processed from scratch although I do sometimes try the previous settings first on similar images.

These are presets i've made myself. You can see a thumbnail preview of each preset in a side panel, I scroll through these and choose something close to what I think suits the picture, then I often tweak it as desired. I am also adding more presets as I go along, so my 50 will soon be 150. The only issue I have here, is that Affinity doesn't allow you to move individual presets from one folder to another, so easy cataloguing isn't possible.Originally posted by Phill D View PostInteresting, 50 presets? Once this is done, I often tweak it again in other areas of the software. Affinity is quite an indepth program, offering a lot of non destructive effects, so you can usually turn things on and off at will.
You can also save your effect settings as presets, although I have only done this a couple of times but it's handy if you achieve a particular effect and want to repeat it elsewhere.
I have occasionally used the presets that come with Affinity, basic ones like "sharpening" or "natural" and there's a "black and white" one i've made after watching a colour science video on YouTube but tweaking is the norm.

Some of the “dust spots” look like they could be birds to me? The blooming things fly about messing up the sky, I often clone them out!
A moody image for sure. The processing here on the sky reminds me of one of the Olympus / OM art filters - Dramatic Tone.
I have made a few presets for some situations in CaptureOne, like removing DxO over sharpening and some quick light treatment of scenics as a starting point.
