It looks like an interesting area. We’ve been to some of the Newport RI mansions (Breakers was one of them). The classic tourist trail - a lady at a road stop Subway guessed exactly where we had come from and were going when she heard our accents! I remember going to some sort of wildlife refuge by the sea, I’ll have to dig through the the photos to see where it was.

Bill, that sounds like Sachuest Point, I believe it's a National Wildlife Refuge. Lovely spot, with Snowy Owls in the winter.
Yes, that's it - I recognise it from looking on Google street view. We did a walk around the headland and really liked it. Thanks for refreshing my memory. This was part of a driving tour we did in 2012 starting in Boston heading out to New Hampshire, Vermont, Seneca Falls NY State, Niagara Falls, Rhode Island, Cape Cod then back to Boston. Quite a lot of driving for us - we wanted to do New England in the autumn but my other half wanted to add on a "side trip" to Niagara Falls! I should go back and take another look at all my photos.
