Went out on Wednesday to scatter my Mum and my Sister's ashes.
My Sister was a keen birder and my Mum always liked Fidra.
Fidra is a wee island in the Firth of Forth just off the East Lothian Coast.
It is a nature reserve for Arctic Terns. It is now almost impossible to get onto the island.
It was until 1970 a manned lighthouse.
The reason my Mum was so fond of it was that during WWII my great uncle Jimmy and his wife Ina lived there. He was the Principal keeper (with a fine Buchan accent).
My Mum spent her summer holidays on the island, 8 weeks at a time, right through the war.
So this seemed an appropriate spot.
A fine blustery day and this is the view from the spot.
Fidra is one of the Stevenson Lighthouses built 1885.
It is also thought to be an inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson (same family) for Treasure Island.
Continuing the nautical history theme, the high hill back left on the Fife shore is Largo Law at the foot of which is the village of Upper Largo.
This was the home of Alexander Selkirk, the original Robinson Crusoe.

On a technical note following on from a wee discussion on panoramas.
This is shot at ISO200, f11 at 1/160, focal length 100mm. OM-1 with 12-100mm on.
13 portrait shots, hand held, with a careful overlap of 1/3, which gives a DNG of 355 Mb!, a jpeg of 64Mb and a pixel size of 18577 x 5524.
Processed in Lightroom, not much sharpening, doesn't need it.
