By late afternoon, it's still there, hanging on as the fly-screen curtain has to be traversed to get to the back of the garden! The long front 'antennae' are actually its front legs, and you see them gesticulating from time to time.

Ah interesting to see - I've never seen them in the wild! I didn't know you got them in France.

Yes, there is even a French variant; Clonopsis gallica. The couple I have seen here have been similar in appearance, a medium grey colour, but from my research they can be green or a lighter, almost pinkish tone.Originally posted by BDennis View PostAh interesting to see - I've never seen them in the wild! The picture with my hand for scale was a bit misleading as my hand was nearer the camera. It's bigger than it looks there. They don't have wings, but those legs are very long! It stayed in the same place until early evening even though the fly screen curtain is a fairly insecure place to rest!
