Thanks all. Photos were taken with the OM-5 and the 40-150mm F4 lens. It is a super lightweight combination and can be carried easily when the OM-1 and 300mm are just too bulky and heavy............

This setup is OK for close-ups of insects and plants but does not replace the '1 and 300 for birds etc.......

They never seem to bother people, they are too intent on feeding here. I dare say they might pack a little bomb in that tail. Treat with respect..:-)

I was surprised to read that. given how close and sharp I had presumed that you had gone for the 90mm macro..

It's a great lens, one of my favourites. As someone who likes animal shots with some space in a bit of context, I particularly liked the second image.

I occasionally get them in our garden, on apples damaged by birds. They present no risk if you are just photographing them.
