Some Marbled White Butterfly shots today

I've been seeing these flying around our local area in Bedfordshire the last few days. I got really a close view of some this morning on some wild flowers but I only had my mobile phone!

I went out later in the afternoon with the OM-1 and 100-400mm and got these photos not far from home. There was a strong breeze so I had a tricky time getting any shots of them when they settled in the grasses with it blowing all over the place. I used shutter speeds of 1/2500s to 1/3200 to deal with this so ended up at quite high ISO and put the files through DxO PureRaw. I might give it another go tomorrow.

The under-wing patterns on these are quite striking, I've only really got upper wing shots before.

You can probably thank the wind for them holding on to their perches. I find myself trying to keep up with them, rarely getting a shot.

Yes, I think the wind did help - they seemed to be hanging on for dear life! I noticed some of them dived down into a nearby barley crop to hide from the wind.
