I was sitting on a bench at our local nature reserve having a snack and these flew in and landed at the edge of the field in front of me. They’re quite scarce but we’ve been seeing them around our local patch. What are more common are the introduced red-legged partridges that are often bred and released for shooting.
You got lucky to see them let alone capture them! They have become so scarce in recent years - used to be regular in our part of Norfolk but I rarely see any of late. Knock the socks off the introduced Red-legs
