The 100-400 also worked remarkably well. I think that I managed to get hold of a good copy.

They are so colourful, you get great photos of them. So they nest in tree holes then?

Thanks Bill. Hollows in trees are popular nesting places.

It is one of the problems with them out here in the west (where they are introduced/cage escape birds). They outcompete the locals for nesting tree hollows.

Thanks Mark. I was lucky. We were just coming to the end of a Coffee & Camera walk when a friend said "Look at that tree above your right shoulder." I hadn't even noticed them. I think that quite a few of us managed to get photos of that pair.
