This female blackbird was perched on our fence clucking away for a while the other day, one of the panels that didn't need to be replaced after the storm. It seemed rude not to take a photo as the gear was to hand.
Our neighbours houses behind have white walls so I added on +2.7 EV exposure bias.
Exposure 1/400 second f5.6 ISO 4000 at 500mm, I DxOed it.
Great shot. That +2.7 EV Exposure Bias worked well, and the bird is all I see with the eye being nice and sharp!
Thanks all.
It was quite dark on the bird initially with all the back lighting before I added the +ve exposure compensation. I think next time I will try a lower shutter speed like 1/100s to get a better ISO as some of the details on the birds face and feathers when peeking the image were a bit lost - something I notice with dark birds in shady lighting. I find trying to get details on blackbird feathers tricky especially with the male birds.
