I have seen quite a few Chiffchaffs recently but they have all been hidden high up amongst tree branches and were impossible to photograph. This one at Carlton Marshes yesterday was sitting in the sunshine, almost in the open for several minutes. However it refused to turn towards me. Chuffing Chiffchaffs!
They are still beautiful photos, Ron. I seem cursed by my almost total inability to have any animal (including my own pets) to turn and face me. Or even stay still. Very frustrating!
I don't "identify" as a wildlife photographer - yet! I love to learn new skills with the amazing OM system, so there's still time to hope...
Looks well plumped up so it must have been chilly in the sunshine. lovely wing and feather detail, Ron.
Bit like our weather today. I got everything ready for shots of insects and as I went out the door into the sunshine The cold wind hit. Luckily found one shelterd sun trap…
I took these on Sunday when the weather was unexpectedly still and balmy, so I don't know if the Chiffchaff was trying to keep warm or getting excited attempting to attract a mate. There were birds calling everywhere, so yesterday I went back for 'seconds'. Unfortunately there was a fresh, cold wind blowing and there was hardly any birds to be seen or heard. It was completely different from the previous day and very disappointing.
