my new 1.4 tc arrived this morning and I managed a hour out before a storm arrived . very pleased so far all shots hand held 1-mkiii+ 100-400 +1.4 tc = in FF terms to 1120mm hand held and very stable rig .. forgot how good it was probably get more out of it these days with improvements in PP to .. 3 bird shots and one extremely large bird
Works well Jeff, excellent shots. Be interested in your views whether the extra range is better than less range but wider view. Especially when it comes to BIF......
from past experience mark it matters very little once you grab the focus . only stuff flying around today were some very close gulls ( I was feeding them ) weather put paid to playtime so will carry on later in the week .one thing that someone noticed on TP forum was that todays shots with this one appeared sharper than previous ones I have owned ,a comment I totally agree with .. same camera ,same lens , different t.c so is there a possible variation in iq between them ???
Yes Dave in Wales says that the IQ varies on the 100-400mm lens. I had one for a short time, and did not like the results.So maybe I had a bad one. Have to add that despite Tordan's advice, my 300mm and the 1.4 tc work very well together...Unsure about the 2.0, but I feel that 600mm Oly style is a bit far for me. .........and my anno domini is not a help...
The only variable today was the new mc-14 . I do sometimes wonder re the 100-400 from other peoples comments but there are so many ways to set your menu system up and then use it ,and the process the files a different way that it’s no wonder the results differ . Perhaps I should start a u.tube channel for settings
