    Very nice. Not a bird I have ever seen and not native to USA. We have Meadowlarks but

      is there a rule of how much sky or background should be left in photo when editing? Or is it, if it looks right, then leave alone.

      Just a simple question in passing.

        I think its just a matter of composition, and how big or small the subject is in the original shot. These birds were maybe 30-40 metres away, so quite small on the frame. I can crop only so far, which rules out a close up, but enough to have some detail, and reasonable composition...Try it, and see where it takes you...
