  • Grey Day Red Kites

A few Kite shots from a recent trip to Aylesbury. The perched one was looking a bit fed up with the weather, or maybe me taking its photo...

These all with the OM1Mk2 and 150-400mm - they got the DxO treatment.

Perched and peeved, a real gloom of clouds was descending

Nice shots. Did the rain cause any problems focusing? I took some shots a few days ago when we had a bit of snow and focus confirmation was often on a snowflake and not the bird I was trying to get. I changed from CAF to SAF and used AF On/BBF and that seemed to help.

Thanks. The rain wasn't that heavy and no focus issues with it. I'd forgotten about the rain until I saw it on some of the Kite shots on post processing. I've had the camera focus on drops of heavy rain before though instead of the intended subject, usually in the dry taking shots from bird hides.

Lovely birds that are well captured. This is a species which often look if they have been over sharpened even if they are straight out of the camera - this is NOT a reflection on your photos!! TFS

I like the first shot. I like the way the kite is framed by the branches.
