What can I say that I haven't said before? Brilliant macro work, Nick, brilliant.

      Thank you John.

The great thing about Macro insects is that if you stand by a bush and wait a couple of moments then you'll see all sorts of possible photographs.

Even in recession Britain is not short of insects.

What Lens do you mainly use for your Macro, from your equipment list I am guessing the Sigma, and for a shot like this did you use the converters?

        Thanks

            My word

That equates to 600mm (full frame) I am considering some Macro work at some point but only own the ZD50

As for the flash is this a small hand held unit, was it TTL/manual

sorry for all the questions just interested

oops - the metz is a ringlash, mounted on the filter ring, triggered as a wireless ttl flash from the camera flash. Handheld refers to the whole set-up (camera and lens).

Often thought of having the flash seperate - but it would require three hands.

                    Thank you David/Wee.

Hailstones - now there's a subject for a macro shot, particularly if you can get them in/on a flower.

Nick, how you hand hold that rig and keep the narrow plane of focus spot on is beyond me.

I couldn't do that even when I was well.

                          Dear Nick,

Your results are scaring me as I am just about to start shooting macro shot this year having bought a secondhand Sigma 150mm.

You have raised the bar very high, up to me now to start jumping!!

                          Superb

                            Re: Loaded

Chris - it's just practise so you should have no problem, remember take as many shot as you can and that like any other photos they need composition. But the very intensity of leaf/flower colours is a great help.

Zuiko - it's all down to shape, I come pre-loaded with adequate counterbalance for the lens. Actually it's because of the excellent c-af of the e-3, concentration totally on looking ridiculous (most recent shots are in the park near the bandstand - 'mummy, that funny man is there again'), and taking as many shots as possible. What is really hard is finding the subjects in the first place, sometimes there seems to an awful lot of leaves but no insect, even though you know it's sitting there waiting in front of the lens.

                            Thank you Gregles.

Now thats a photograph I never thought about of course the hail has stopped but still not much in the way of insects still cold here in the north. On a different line the North West Two Hundred motor cycles are starting and I will not get to them so back to looking for sun and bugs. I too wonder Nick how you manage to get your great macro shots handheld I will keep trying but as has been said already the bar is high and I am just a wee man!
