  • Robin (or red breasted tit) in flight

Had about half an hour free today so I thought I would try the chalk ridge above Portsmouth. Nothing much around but took a few shots of a Robin and other small birds.

Was pleased to capture this Robin on take-off. Used F9 for depth of field because it was difficult to get reasonable focus. Perhaps I should have used centre spot small but thats with hindsight. A clearer background would also have been an asset but beggars cannot be choosers. I must admit I prefer the challenge of action shots.

    Cheers

    Peter,

nice tit and well spotted. I haven't been taking many action shots with the E3 yet. I'm saving myself for swans and red kite as I think I need a bigger target.

But I did get this 'far more common' tit doing a riverdance on a branch. It was very quiet and you could just hear him humming ' da diddley, diddley, etc, etc...,' as he got into his stride. To be honest I think he was distracted and didn't see me taking this picture.

I think we could hold a competition for performing tits. Something Barrie would enjoy.

    Nurse, bring the happy pills.

      Thanks Peter

Thats incredible and all without backing too. Love your shot.

Came across a man walking his alsation dog yesterday. What really got me was that the rooks were flying towards him and his dog. Some were even on the ground within jaw reach but clearly were not bothered by the dog. I took a photo of the scene after getting his permission. Unfortunately I missed the best shots. I may post it later. Apparantly he feeds the birds as he takes his dog for a walk and they obviously recognise him. He told me that when they stop, birds land on the dogs back - incredible I know, but I have no reason to doubt it from what I had personaly seen. Next time I come across him I shall take more photos as I now know he does not mind.

      Kind regards

Do you ever feel that we are perhaps getting a little too eccentric?

Photographs of small 'talented birds' and 'dogs that have escaped from the circus'. Perhaps we should be out taking 'manly' pictures of rugged scenery and partially clothed young women. Have we lost the plot?

Also, have you noticed how quiet it has been in here since we had the bailiffs in a few weeks back. Ian had to plead with them to get the server back.

I wonder if we are missing anything good on TV. perhaps that is where all the people are!

Still I will look forward to seeing your Alsatian/rook shots shortly. I think your reputation score will shoot through the ceiling.

Thanks Ellie/Peter. I have been a little pre-occupied on another thread hence the late response.

I have seen over the last few months peoples confidence build and better and more challenging images submitted. Its really good to be involved with this sort of community all working for a common interest. Perhaps one day we can meet up and swop ideas. In the mean time, this is a terrific forum.

            Kind regards

              Peter

it is amazing at the bottom of each of these threads is a link to previous similar threads. And this one popped out of the ether on the back of the magpie. I'd quite forgotten.

So this picture is still here somewhere.

Perhaps if I keep uncovering them then the technical support team can trace them back to your gallery.

I can see hours of fun, perhaps we could institute a find Peter's pictures hunt with prizes...

So I am in the lead with two. How hard can this be..?
