  • Too much ?

A drizzly day in the woods.......we came upon this structure from 1913 - The logging and mining days of our history in the Comox Valley.

    Re: Too much ?

Love the colours and the feel of cool damp air that creates the mosses and lichens dripping form the trees!

I remember many years ago seeing photos of the Olympic National Park in USA nearby to Vancouver Island and would love to see more of this type of imagery. The historical mining aspect doesn't perhaps show up to much within this photo but as a prop and contrast to the vegetation works really well.
We were taken by friends many moons ago to an area of early logging in BC and the redwoods had 'steps' cut into the trunk of the tree up to a height of about 8ft or more, at which height two lumberjacks could then use their long crosscut saws to fell the upper part of the tree! We also met a relative who was a pioneer and worked laying railway tracks in BC - it seemed an old history and yet there were still people around who took part in the history.

So lots of fascinating history and scenery to show off on this forum . . . please!

    Regards
    Chris

I think that the treatment is appropriate given the subject. And I like the presentation - we don't see much of this type of thing. As a photographic judge I see some excellent as well as some awful presentations. It can often make or break an image IMO.

I'm not a big fan ov "overdone" photos but this one I like. The effects gives me a sense of 3D or something taken out of a well drawn painting. I like the strong colors and the effect it gives to the photo.
