Black terns

Here are some photos of this not-so-common species that I took from a floating hide while on a trip through mid-Sweden in early June. This species nests on the floating vegetation that grows on marshes and feeds on the surface where they gather insects and small fish. They are on the decline mainly due to habitat loss.

I started around 2 AM to make sure I would be on location before sunrise.
