At this location with coastal ponds is a small population of Little terns that are sharing nesting sites with Arctic terns, Sandwich terns, gulls, and various waders. For the best photo conditions, you should be there from about 7 to 9 about PM on days with a moderate breeze from NW to W. And the water level should be high enough to capture close action as they fish for shrimps in shallow water close to the shore. These conditions occur a few days every season. I was there in late May and the Terns were very active providing for their chicks, commuting between the nesting site and the fishing pond, scanning the water, hovering, diving, and sometimes emerging with prey.
I thought I'd share some samples depicting the kind of photos you can get when the stars are aligned. I also got some nice photos of the Arctic terns and Sandwich terns, I could share them later if you like.
All with the OM-1 @1/2000s + 150-400 @400mm

Thanks for looking
