Jubilee Beacon at Crich

Shot these from a distance in pretty dim light. Didn't go to the actual event as we thought there might be a large crowd but in hindsight wished we had gone as it looked nice and open and it would have been good to have got closer in to get the atmosphere. Not sure how I got star streaks on the last shot at f4 but I did?

Anyone able to explain to me why I got a starburst on a shot taken at f4.0 ?

Very nice shots Phill. The starburst is quite prominent for f4. I wonder if it is more to do with the light source or perhaps enhanced by the post processing. It looks good anyway!

What lens did you use?

It was the 300mm Bill so I was quite a distance away. I took about half a dozen shots and two had the starburst the others didn't. I need to tap into some local knowledge I think to get a proper answer. I just Googled it and the light is 15,000 candle power and it operates as a rotating beacon. Sort of like a lighthouse I guess. Maybe it somehow showed as a starburst when the light was directed at me?
