    A sadly all too common site. This was once, no doubt, a busy and prosperous bakery that may have existed for many decades.

    Very true Ian,Town centres are dying off at a rapid rate unfortunately. As you say shops that have been in families for generations are going under. Do you have a colour image, just curious how it looks.

      Just as Tesco obliterates the High Street here, so does Carrefour and the likes in France.
      I remember a group of us staying and cycling in Brittany (Pleyben) in 1996.
      My pleasure was to get up first and walk about a kilometre to the Boulangerie/Patisserie for croissants and bread.
      On the Sunday I went mad and bought a superb pear and cream gateau as well Was told it was a ridiculous buy but funny there wasn't a scrap left.
      Just looked it up on Google maps and its still there!
