  • Very first 'birdie' with OM1

Opportunist shot, taken diagonally through double glazed kitchen window.

I used my C1 setting for Perched Birds....looks like all the effort to compile it was worth it.

The camera was a dream, a pleasure to use, it seemed as if the bird/eye AF was actually glued to the bird.

    OM1, 100-400, Aperture Priority, 1/250, f6.3, ISO 800...Bird recognition.

In retrospect I think the shutter speed needs upping a bit and maybe use manual, let the ISO drift.

I wonder if the image is a bit flat? I'm not seeing real black in the image?

You are of course quite correct Ian, I was so chuffed at the performance of the camera that I spent little time on PP, being eager to show off the AF/Bird recognition and the way it nailed the eye.
If you look closely you will also notice artefacts in the splashes behind the bird caused by sharpening.
Also the 1/250 is far too low.
BTW...it's not a Chuff is a female Black bird

Nice shot Dave. I played with bird detect on some ducks on the canal yesterday. I was very impressed with it.

Very nice, good to see you’ve got it set up. It is great when it come together. Sometimes nice to have a slower shutter as it shows the splashes a bit blurred with movement.
