We spent a little while at Carlton Marshes yesterday. During the recent extremely strong winds and high tides the flood defences were breached and some of the paths were blocked by barriers to prevent visitors from using them. As we turned a corner we came across this Kestrel clinging to one of the barriers. It kept trying to fly through the centre of the screen, which was only about six feet high, although it could easily have flown over the top or round the side. Every so often it would sit on a post to recover before having another go. After a couple of minutes it managed to get round the side and fly away. It appeared to be unharmed, although its tail feathers had taken a bit of a battering.
