  • Greedy bossy goldfinch!

I started a thread the other day about the use of a nyger (niger?) seed feeder for goldfinches. You can find it here:

    https://www.e-group.uk.net/forum/for...it-for-purpose

The good news is that the goldfinches here quickly found the new feeder but they do also like sunflower hearts very much. Here's the evidence:

Said goldfinch stuffing itself! Notice that it's ringed.

The leg ring is much clearer here.

And there is no way this goldfinch is going to share its loot

Sparrows and great tits, they know their place when the goldfinch is at the feeder

Good to see you got the Goldfinches back! Looks like nice light for photos too. Our garden loses the light very quickly in the winter..we need a house on a turntable!

That was four days ago. It's been mild but wet and dull ever since - -6C but clearer weather forecast for midweek!

Goldfinches are coming every day now and some spend quite a long time on the nyjer seed feeder.
