  • A few Birdies

A few pictures that I shot today at the International Centre for Birds of Prey in Newent, Glos. Difficult conditions, very grey and dark, so some of them turned out a wee bit on the grainy side.

Great shots...especially the last one...pity about the rope though...there again he would probably still be flying now without it.
Know all about the grey and dark day ...I never even bothered going out.

Nice shots. I like number 1 the best - I really like the texture in the feathers.
Number 4 is a close second - just a shame about the rope.
          Cheers,
          Pete.

All Very nice shots, No1 for me though as fav, like the position of the bird and of course the catchlight in the eye helps.

                Re: A few Birdies

Great shots and 1, 2 & 3 are my favourites!
No.I is a fab portrait of the 'hawk'? and I like the slight turn to its head and the glint in the eye.
No.2 would be a shot that I would love to have taken, with the spread of the light coloured wings against the dark woodland backdrop - quite a natural setting. The only thing that I find 'strange' is the gatepost - is the owl really tiny or the gatepost really big? As the wing is in front I presume that this must be a very small owl.
No.3 is a shot that needs to be enlarged to close in on the bird a little but I still love the potential impact of this photo. What type of raptor is this?
And No.4 may not be a favourite but this is still a great shot - if you, the photographer, was able to stand more in the line of its flight can you imagine the feeling of trepidation that you and the viewer would feel as it heads towards you with its wings like this!
Final thought? Show them off larger so that we can enjoy the detail and give even more praise!!
