Eurasia's largest woodpecker. A species that might be of interest to those of you interested in birds as it is not present in the UK.
This is a male, first while drumming and then in flight.
Their drumming is loud, low-pitched, and distinctive and they have an eerie call while flying. In that sense, they are easy to locate however getting this up close and personal is not easy.
