  • Challenged myself!

Not been out much lately with the camera been feeling a bit crappy and tired all the time so I set myself a challenge.

I am still a little on the poor side when it comes to processing shots so I thought I would have a play. I chose a pretty average picture I had taken earlier in the year and sat down to see what I could make of it.

After many hours fiddling with cloning tools, sharpening thingys and Huey Satty wotsits I was quite pleased with the result. Still not perfect by any means but an achievement I feel! A step in the right direction I hope for this year.

I have removed all of the ropes, knots and posts in the background and tidied it up a bit.

Just a shame the rider is so tight in the bottom corner. Oh well can't win them all.

    Thanks

    Excellent!

I think you deserve this weeks "Golden Cloner" award!

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

The key is to constantly changing the cloning sample you're using to add some variation. I can still see some repeating patterns (the dirt trail) and the shadow on the front wheel looks a tat bit odd. Otherwise, a very good job, well done

Really brings out the image after the edit!

Yep, a little more time and it will be an excellent example of a lot of very hard work!
The area of dirt clods kick back from the rear wheel shows the line of cloning out of the upper rope, so in effect dab this area using samples from various locations - beware of cloning in half bits of larger dirt clods though.
And additionally to previous comments, why not remove the branch entering into his upper chest , the little bit of vegetation under the front wheel and perhaps the background angled branch just behind him? (Sorry, I know this is in Foto Fair, but you've turned this image into a brilliant one for Looking for Perfection!)

Whatever the comments, it is clear that you've put a hell of a lot of work into this and it really shows. I'm envious of the efforts and am telling myself not to relook at my trials bike photos - I'll never get away from the computer if I do!
