        Re: Snake In The Grass

        Welcome:

Your photo and this forum is obviously the best way to see a snake close up - and all the better for that! Good shot and look forward to seeing many more via the comfortable distance of a computer screen.

Did you use a tripod low down, and what lens did you use? I presume the shallow depth of field could mean possibly telephoto but you obviously got down low and held steady for this - if you used your macro then you obviously had a very patient snake. Looks like you've got plenty of experience and practice under your belt, so the 'lurking for a year' on this forum has been used wisely! More please.

Great shot! Love the depth of field on the snake's body.

Thanks for all the comments. The photo was taken using my E-510 with 70-300mm on the front, at the long end of the zoom. ISO 400 f5.6 1/320s.
It was handheld, but I was either crouching down shooting through the glass enclosure, or leaning over the glass (which is waist high) for support.

The photo was taken at the British Wildlife Centre on one of their photographic days. It's a great day out for those who like animal photography - http://www.britishwildlifecentre.co.uk/.

There are some more of my pics from the day on my Flickr page.

                  Cheers,
                  Pete.
