    Just as you are settling down to a nice quiet evening the noise of the Coastguard helicopter drowns out the tele...somebody has gone on the rocks...



    I gather they will try to pull it off about midnight so any tips on how to get better images much appreciated...

    That water looks cold

    I rather like those rather weird noisy halos around the lights. I'm not sure you have much choice of settings with a scene like that, you need a high ISO or the movement will be blurred, so it's going to be noisy.


    btw - did they get their boat back?

      Yep...it was pulled off later that night ...
      the halos in the first image are from a Nikkor 85mm @f2
      this later image is the 70-300 wide open with reflections from the UV filter I later worked out
