  • Glen Clova

George (Gingram) requested a few more pictures of my visits to the glen after showing a very old slide.
    This is it.

I was slightly wrong in my date. It was January 1974 not '75.
The following year in January 1975 it wasn't so nice.

The top one is crossing the burn at Bachnagairn and then struggling to the top of Broad Cairn in the teeth of a blizzard.

Several years later (1981) we went up Jock's Road in what seemed fine conditions.
This happened in front of us as we approached. A wee, gentle, slab avalanche.

The it was round onto the top of Broad cairn again with fine views to Lochnagar and the Dubh Loch.
The near cliffs on the left are 1000ft (300m) high and have a number of very hard rock and ice routes.

Bringing it more up to date, this was a wee wander up to Bachangairn in Sept 2018, a cracking day and autumn had already appeared there 2000ft (600m) up.
The wood was apparently planted for Queen Victoria to enjoy her picnics. Its a fine haven.
Rather than thrashing up the hills I enjoyed a photo safari for the afternoon.
