For the first time since 1981, the lads and lassies of Aberlady Curling Club were able to actually hold a Curling match on the lake at Gosford House where I work last Sunday. Curling was traditionally held there going back at least 150 years, but the shift in the climate patterns in the past decades has reduced the times the lake has frozen enough to even trot a mouse across, let alone curl! The ice was very lumpy and slow, so the action wasn't exactly fast!

Sweeping to persuade the stone to go that little bit further

Just sliding out of the target area towards a competitor's stone

The hoards of spectators
