  • The Bank Holiday Early Morning Mission

This morning was a mission in two parts. The first part was to capture just two photos, as well as I possibly could, with my eyeball glued to the to the E-M1 mk II's EVF. I capture three. For the first, I think you get about half an hour of the correct light (direction and so on) so I needed to be up early and on location before 08:30.

I think the blanket carrying homeless beggar added to the moment (and might even have handed over a bit of money, accept no on, myself included, uses money anymore).

The next two, likewise, need to be captured quite early in the morning - the subject is backlit, from this location, for most of the day.

The second part of the mission was a more thorough test of the second hand Fujifilm X100F I've picked up. I might pen some thoughts on that, somewhere, at some point.

Very nice. I had only just gotten out of bed at 07:15 (was out of the house thirty minutes later though).

Jason, I like your well composed and natural colour "morning walk" set very much, the last well timed shot in particular. .

I'm out at the shops at 8am twice a week to avoid the queues. Alas the high street is not quite so photogenic even when its clear of traffic.

Thanks. AWB did the job perfectly, and I appreciate being able to muck about with highlights, shadows and mid-tones behind the camera (I was in a JPEG mood).
