  • Winter Steam

60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, Hauling "The Tynesider" Kings Cross to Newcastle. Just North of Doncaster on the East Coast mainline. What a difference the cold weather makes to the exhaust. It gives a lot better impression of speed.
Colour & B&W for me B&W suits Steam Locomotives but the colour didn't come out to bad. Maybe you think different?

    Thanks for looking
    Derek

    Re: Winter Steam

Being married for numerous years to a steam railway and model railway "feak" (Great Western). I have perused quite a number of steam railway mags and I must say the winter shots tend to always be a bit colourless, but I think the dynamics of the photo is the steam belching.
I can still remember standing on a railway bridge watching them pass when they were used as a normal commute.

Lovely shots Derek and, has been said, great composition. I like 1,2 and 4. Thanks for sharing.

I captured Sir Nigel earlier this year while on holiday in Yorkshire... but not as good as yours!
