  • Old Banger

My car is approaching its 22nd year and as Anne wanted to see some sun so we took off with a picnic for Waddesdon Manor this morning. Amazed at the numbers visiting so we took pictures from afar.

Oh my, I am in awe of this beautiful structure. I read a little bit about it on line. How can they afford to maintain it? We have no castles or super huge old mansions like that here in the U.S. Is it fun to take photos of such buildings? How about the interiors, is there enough light inside to capture good images?
PS. grass cutters and self isolation...good ones!

      Hi and thanks.

The attached link I hope covers most things to know about the estate. I understand the owner who gave it to the National Trust still resides somewhere in the enormous grounds.

      Tx again.

Lovely shots Barr1e, I'd forgotten how ornate a building it was. We've been there a few times usually on the way to places it's a great stop off. Or it was until they just closed all the NT houses parks and gardens. Making the parks free was a great idea to give people places to go outside but I guess it was inevitable they would be so popular that social distancing would be difficult.
I hadn't got you down as a BMW driver! mind you with such a lovingly cared for example I guess you don't fit the modern day description of a BMW driver .

I like #2 and #3. The car (#1) is looking in good condition. #4 is taking self isolation a little too far I feel.

            Thanks Phill.

I enjoyed being behind the wheels of BMW most of my life. I drove them many times on Continental holidays knowing I would get from A to B with the car offering reliability. When I retired some years ago I bought the one seen above from the company. She is only driven about 3000 miles a year.
I rely on Anne's ageing Mazda and the local bus service.
It is a great place to visit - we go often. We were surprised with the numbers visiting yesterday and so decided to walk halfway up the hill from the car park and take a few pix before leaving to enjoy our picnic in a local lay by.

The first looks more like a "Beamer" than a "Banger" Barrie ... a "banger" is a sausage ain't it ...

That illustrious manor looks like the one where the Profumo / Keeler scandal took place ?
