      Re: Candid B&W's

I like the 3rd one aswell
The scond one is a nice image with the interaction between the 2 but for me the B&W treatment doesn't work, the tones around the boys right eye look wrong

      Cheers

I think the third one works best. The second the toning on the forehead looks odd!

I like #3 very much. Might a slightly tighter crop, especially at the top and right, make it even better?

I have to agree, the third one is packed with atmosphere, super stuff.

                Cheers

I like no. 3 too. It conveys an atmosphere.

                    Re: Candid B&W's

as they stand no. 3 is the best but there is something very appealing about no.2, it is well worth fixing what is wrong with it. did you cut the background out of it? it looks like you did and that is a problem, the hard edges of the selection don't look natural, enlarging and feathering the edge would be a big improvement.

Don thanks for looking i dont know if im good enough in photoshop to do that but i'll give it a go.The original background was a pebble dashed wall and window with sun reflecting off it .
                      Thanks Iain

Number 3 for me - I would have been proud of that one. Well done

                            Iain,

With no3s popularity .... let's hope you haven't 'peaked' too soon in your photographic career!

I'm only looking at it on a small screen but is there a slight halo, especially around the chin?

Yes Graydon I think so .I was originally just posting these to see if it was worth persevering with any of the shots. As I said this is my first real attempt at b & w processing so now I'll go back and work on them .
                              Thanks Iain
