  • Lakeland Sunbeams

I was lucky enough to be in Langdale last weekend, in glorious weather, stopping in a climbing hut up the road from Chapel Stile. There was a fire in the garden opposite and the smoke provided a lovely photo opportunity

I can't decide if the gate and bit of the cottage wall on the right detract from the shot, I've got a version with it cloned out

Update - hut has been removed

    Classy shot.

I don't mind the gate, not so certain about the cottage..

BTW, How would it look in sepia??

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Fantastic picture! I think they both work well, but the sepia version perhaps has the edge

I think I'm of the same opinion. Great work!

I'm going to be awkward and say I prefer the original colours by far over the sepia - but agree the cottage has to go!

              What a cracking shot!

Cheers, I have now removed the Wayfarers Club Hut (without asking them). I overwrote the original in the gallery, so the 1st post shows the change.

Fabulous shot - No. 1 for me.
You can almost sense the atmosphere in the picture.

Lovely. I too prefer the first shot.

That was lucky to be in the right place at the right time... and you did it justice

I too like the first one best. Really atmospheric.

Can I ask what your camera settings were as I have tried to take similar shots with sunbeams etc but sadly they were all rubbish!

                          Re: Lakeland Sunbeams

Barrie and I were also in the area last weekend enjoying the exceptional weather - a professional photographer we spoke to while on our travels said he had covered a wedding in the area the previous week and you could not see across the lake all day for rain! We had not made any bookings for our trip and hit Lake Windermere as the Great North Swim was taking place, so had to head south pretty quickly to find accommodation. Still had trouble, as we then ran into the Boot and Beer Festival and Sheep Sales, so again no room at the inn!

Anyway, I digress - I think your image is stunning and I too prefer the sepia version.

                          Regards, Ann1e

With the hut gone definitely No 1 for me. A really top shot with bags of atmosphere!
