  • What a glorious view

Hayley, I and Max our lab are on holiday staying in Fort William. This is our second week. Walking is one of our main reasons to visit the area. Yesterday we woke to clear skies, so we decided it was the day for Ben Nevis. Having been up before we decided to go via the North Face. It was incredible how hot it got, I was carry a ruck sack with all the kit for a change in temp which didn't happen. We both got rather sunburnt faces. But the views! They were incredible!!

    The view south.

    Loch Linhe.

Fort William from the pony track.

    Lochan Meall an t-suidhe.

    Glen Nevis towards lower falls.

Max and I at the top.

Landscapes are not my speciality but I had to capture the views.
    I hope you enjoyed

    Cheers

Amazing views and well done for all the effort in getting there.
One of my "must do" things especially as I have now actually seen what I am missing.

Glad to see you're having a good time, Derek. What a view from the top, eh? Even the Mamores look small!

Climbed from the north? Tower Ridge or Carn Mor Dearg arete? Ah, brings back fond memories.

I think on the evidence of the 1'st and 3'rd shots there may well be an argument as to whether you are a landscape photographer -just capturing the views indeed!.

Lovely series and sounds like a great time.

Great stuff, its stunning up there when you get weather like that, and your shots certainly do it justice. I think I like the second best, the Fort William one, it has lots of drama but it'd be better with the horizon levelling.

When you say N Face did you go up the Allt a' Mhuillin past the CIC hut or over Carn Dearg? I'd love to see some shots of the Allt a' Mhuillin route - it's loaded with memories for me.

It's all been said - fantastic views, but the horizons need sorting out

It must be great feeling to be looking down on the clouds!

                      Isn't it just

For someone who "doesn't do landscapes" they are very pleasing to my eye.

I especially like the 1st - envious isn't the word - the onlyu time I was up there it was almost a white out !

                        Re: What a glorious view

Hi, Thanks for the responses, very encouraging but that is what I always find from this group. I did adjust the horizons but uploaded the wrong set (was tired at the time) my excuse! The two John's the route up was via the CIC hut up Allt a' Mhuillin a lot of lose rocks. Sorry no photos of this bit the heat and the heavy ruck sack on that terrain was taking my attention.
Ian it was so pleasing to get a view and it is amazing to be above the clouds, which you only are normally when flying. Infact we had come down about 1000 ft when a pair of Tornado's went by the top.
I have added this shot of Ben Nevis from West Highland Way.

                          Re: What a glorious view

Heat, heavy pack, loose rocks, steep terrain - ah, those were the days! You didn't mention midges.

Views like this certainly make it all worthwhile. I've really enjoyed looking at these marvellous pictures, Derek. Thank you.
