  • A Slightly Different View

I was out in my little garden tonight with my camera, taking full advantage of the butterfly fest going on round my shrubs (a great way to unwind after the sort of day I've had at work today ), and I was suddenly struck with just how beautiful butterfly wings are when lit from behind. So I took some photos with the 50-200 against the light, and thought I'd share one with you.

    Thanks for looking.

I like butterflies taken like this as the light through the wings is superb but its not oftern that you can in the correct position, well done.

Wonderful shot, Thea - glad you didn't leave, the forum would be much poorer without your contributions!

To my eye this shot is absolutely perfect; sharp, well exposed and (most importantly) brilliantly composed and lit with the low angle and backlighting creating a very powerful and dynamic image. Not often you can say that about butterfly shots, however good they are!

You've got an absolute cracker here - must almost make up for a bad day at work.
