  • Shallow Fly and a Ladybird

The colour/texture of this leaf made this an irresistable backdrop for this common fly

So far there seem to be relatively few ladybirds about - but I spotted this busy traveller, not shot to be specimen ladybirds - but to create a shape around and with the ladybird.

Ah well - hopefully I'll soon drift out of this fallow period

    Fallow period???

I wish my productive periods were like your fallow ones!

Well sometimes it is all relative to expectations and I think that, on the whole, the images still maintain a technical quality that it is acceptable. But I can't help feel that I'm starting to miss something in the composition/colours which is keeping these images away from the WoW I think they aught to achieve.

Maybe I'm reaching a limit in my skill/perception, maybe in the discipline of my approach. Maybe I'm just being unrealistic in my hopes. Perhaps a good drink and some bad women would help?

But with something as subjective as photography how do we evaluate/validate our images - perhaps that is why we 'created' the rules, to give us a mechanistic approach against which to score our images?

I would be interested in knowing what you used to take these.
