  • The last shots with the Tamron 135!

I had a good start with a trip to Woodwalton Marsh in Cambridgeshire, a lot of wild flowers and as the sun came out the butterflies did so to. But after about an hour my much loved 30 year old Tamron 135mm f/2.5 macro lens jammed the focus ring refused to move, I took it of the body and as I did a piece of metal fell out, and that is all that can be said, the said lens no more. but here are the pictures.

All the images were hand held apature priority f/5.6 ISO between 400 and 800 as the light was varying. I hope you enjoy these images, the old lens will be sadly missed.

If you want to entrust it to me I'll see what Dr Death can manage. Absolutlely no guarantee but no charge either. Tamron lenses aren't generally too bad to work on.

I have a ZD 40-150, didn't work well with the Sigma Achromatic Lens attached but I have seen some excellent results on the US site with this and the EX-25, so I'm off to warehouse express to get one and try it. I can't afford the sigma 150 at the moment, and they have just put the prices up, so I will post some images once I have tryed it out and let every one know if it works.

I have one if you want to try it. It is Ok with a 50-200 and with the 50mm macro but I find the 105 macro more usable and have a tamron 90mm macro from my film days which is similar to your 135 to use when you don't need autofocus.

Pick it up and try it.

Wow! Barrie, these are great shots, and so much better than mine. Is this a "macro" lens. It seems lenses made/sold as macro have a wonderful quality. I still don't understand it fully, but I guess it's the focus distance and magnification that do the job.

So, it seems if I want to get pictures like this on a regular basis, a macro lens of some sort is a must.

                      Thanks for the inspiration.

                      DavidJ.
(Sorry about the lens - hope it can be fixed.)

This is a test shot with the EX-25 and ZD40-150 attached to the E500 body, I think I can live with this combo for a while.
