  • A few more from Maline Lake and Canyon

    Beware of moose!
    by Steve Hallam, on Flickr

The moose was taken from the safety of a bus with an open door. It's the rutting season and they are rather skittish! It was taken with the wonderful 12-100 f/4 Pro which ended up permanently attached to the EM-1 mk2, despite taking some others lenses. Surely the best travel photography kit you can have.

We will have to disagree about the sun!

I caught "The Canadian" train from Toronto to Vancouver. It takes four days, quite an experience. You can break the journey once so I had a break in Jasper, Alberta. The pictures were taken on a bus tour run by Sundog Tours, https://www.sundogtours.com. To get to Spirit Island you have to take the optional cruise. Highly recommended, we had an excellent guide/driver. I was very lucky to have the snow a few days before.

We caught the Canadian from Toronto to Jasper then went by coach to Victoria and Vancouver.

Lovely shots again. I like the Moose but #3 Maline Lake is the one for me. Love the shape of the mountains and ... well ... everything else about it.

It was a stunning day's photography. One of my best ever.

Excellent shots of a stunning place. My favourite is #2, with the sun. In fact I'd really like to have seen a wider panorama of that shot. Or was there some ugly industrial plant in there that you cropped off on the rhs!

The sun was a bit of an issue. I just about got away with it in #2. Also the lake is rather odd - it's not really a lake but a partially blocked river. At this time of the year it's rather empty on that side and not very photogenic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_Lake_(Alberta))
